Herbs brewed for hair

I don’t know about you, but I love to multitask, and when I have a product that can serve me in more ways than one, I am truly delighted. It saves money and time shopping and shipping from all different places, plus it makes travelling with cosmetics a whole lot easier.

Herbal tonics are a straightforward and natural way to harness the power of herbs and encourage long, luscious locks. They’re a fantastic place to start for anyone experiencing hair shedding, scalp concerns or if you’re simply looking for an all-natural solution to insanely shiny, healthy hair.

Herbal hair tonic range, 100% natural hair tea rinses.

Herbal Hair Tonics

We developed these blends to create herbal hair tonics that were prepared like a tea. You can see our 100% natural range here. But besides beautiful, soft and shiny hair, there are many other ways that you could prepare our herbal tonics for your hair:

Herbal Hair Tonic Tea

Steep 10g of herbs in 250 ml of hot water for several hours or leave it overnight at room temp. Strain and use the brew as a final hair rinse in the shower. Gently pour it over your hair while massaging your scalp and strands down to the ends. We recommend to leave the tonic in your hair and not to rinse it out, for added shine.

Herbal Hair Tonic Oil

For an easy-to-make hair oil, on a low heat gently infuse 20g of herbs in 5 tablespoons of your favourite type of oil for your hair porosity. Remember that different oils are best for different hair types, you can check out our post about hair porosity types here.

Herbal Hair Tonic Spritz

Prepare the brew as you would for the Herbal Hair Tonic Tea. Once cooled, pour it into a sterilised spray bottle. Use this as a refreshing and hydrating mist for your hair and even skin throughout the day. It can add a subtle scent and moisture. Make sure to use your spray within a couple of days if left out of the fridge or within 7-10 days if kept in the fridge. This is because water without a preservative will develop microbial activity after a while.

And if that wasn’t enough, here are 5 more ways to use your Herbal Hair Tonics as part of your self-love routine:

  1. Bath Soak: Add the dried herbs and flowers to your bath for a soothing herbal soak that leaves your skin feeling velvety smooth.

  2. Facial Steam: Use the hot herbal brew for a facial steam to open up pores and enjoy a little at-home spa session.

  3. Face Mask: Use the herbal brew instead of normal water to mix with a powdered face mask to give your skin a boost.

  4. Foot Soak: Sprinkle the dried herbs and flowers into your foot bath to give tired feet some love with nature's goodness.

  5. Hydrating Toner: Use the cooled herbal brew as a facial toner to gently cleanse and hydrate the skin.

Excess brew can be kept in the fridge in a sealed, non-reactive container (preferably glass) for 7-10 days. Or you can freeze it for up to six months. If you see any sign of microbial activity, throw the liquid away. It is not worth the risk of putting any bacteria on your hair or skin.

Using it as directed means it won't alter your hair colour. Keep it away from your eyes and remember it’s for external use only. Don't pour hot liquid on your hair or skin; ensure the brew is the right temperature before using. As with any new product, always do a patch test to ensure no allergies and stop using it if any irritation flares up.
